The President's Away Break
The most recent President's Away Days were held in Salisbury with Club member Alan P. organising another excellent break for 34 members and partners.
After arriving on Sunday some of us attended evensong in the magnificent cathedral while others wandered aound the town and parks. We enjoyed a very relaxed evening meal.
On Monday morning there was an organised tour of the town, including the courts where Alan finished up 'in the dock'. This was followed by a tour of the Cathedral and lunch in the refrectory. In the afternoon we made a visit to Edward Heath's former home, Arundells, and gained a good insight into his political and sailing achievements.
The evening dinner highlight was the hotel's presentation of a birthday plate to Vic.
On Tuesday morning there was a visit to Mompesson House, a National Trust property, while some of us went off to visit Old Sarum, a Bronze Age and Roman fort with the ruins of the original Cathedral alongside.
